D1 Circuit
Over the past 5 years I helped to build and grow D1 Circuit into the leader in coverage of Nike grassroots basketball. Started in 2013, the team had been scrappy operating with less than a handful of people.
Over the years, I stepped in to help them establish a digital asset management system to allow the small team of content creators to easily shoot, organize, and access the images they need quickly. In the beginning, large files were being shared through text messages, emails and personal drives. I worked with the content creators to to understand their need and create a more efficient, scalable, model.
Since they didn’t have a dedicated designer, I created re-usable templates and guides for them to use on their website and social media outlets. I spent a lot of time mentoring and teaching the social media manager design principles, workflows, tools, and anything else she wanted to learn. As she became more fluent and self-managed in design and photography, we set out to help build the brand.
Over the past few years, I helped elevate D1 Circuit’s ability to post real-time content with high quality photos. Before the tournaments, we do extensive planning and research to know which athletes and what courts we will be covering. In-between games, we follow the workflow I’ve created to quickly organize, edit, and share photos by team and player.
Today, the D1 Circuit team has moved on to new ventures but said goodbye at the height of 48,000 followers on instagram, and 74,000 on twitter.
